MYX recieves funding from State Farm/YSA for Y PHILLY 2008

MYX is happy to announce that we have been granted $1,000 by the State Farm Good Neighbor/Youth Service America support program to fund Y PHILLY and our activities planned to celebrate Global Youth Service Day!

I want to share the most recent email from Lusine, the teacher leading the students' project in Armenia:

Dear Faye,
Thank you for your message and all the information about the students. We are also very happy to work with you on this collaborative art project. This project is a great opportunity for all the students to exchange their art experience and learn more and more of the similarities, differences between youth culture all over the world. We had a session on February 15. We informed our students everything about this project. They are eager to work on it. During our session we discussed ou r plans: what shall we create; what shall we use for that work. We decided what to create. Now we are arranging our materials. Soon we will begin. We are looking forward to it. It is really interesting. Our work of art will represent our national spirit and environment. Soon we will send you more information and pictures about our lessons. All our students are 12-16 years old. They live in Vanadzor, go to different schools of Vanadzor. They also attend our Aesthetic Centre. In our Centre they are busy with different activities: painting, embroidery, carpet [weaving]-lessons, English lessons. Please, write and tell me more about your students' plans...We are looking forward to your messages.

So (Northeast peoples) you can see that you will need to write a bit about yourselves, and your ideas for the project to share with the students in Vanadzor. Our next session is on March 4 - see you then! Be ready to make a decision about the art project, and begin publicizing our event on May 3 as well!

Hello, Vanadzor students, the Northeast students are planning an art event in which we will also use as a opportunity to teach the public more about the Armenia and its culture. I was just wondering do you know of any interesting facts about Armenia and/or its culture that you might want us to include in our little information overview of Armenia?
Thanks,
